Monica Guzman Escobar

CEO

Monica leads Startr Co. with almost 15 years of public relations and marketing experience under her belt. Having worked with businesses of all sizes, ranging from Fortune 500 companies to startups, Monica found that her true passion lies in helping innovative brands reach their full potential in whatever stage of growth they are in. To do just that, Monica utilizes her experience and communications savvy to create strategies that make a true impact, and move small to mid-size businesses forward.

Prior to Startr Co., Monica served as the COO of Los Angeles-based Konnect Agency from its founding in 2009. There, she helped grow the business from a handful of clients, to more than 60, all while growing a team of 3 to more than 50. At Konnect, she was crucial in bringing on and leading campaigns for brands including Lyft, Dave & Buster’s, Rhythm Superfoods, The Goddard School, Nuna, Attune Foods, Nautica, and others. Previous to Konnect, Monica held positions with PMK•BNC and Rox United Public Relations (previously RLPR), where she supported campaigns for brands including Nike, Got Milk?, Cheerios, Delta and Heineken.

Monica is a graduate of the University of Southern California, where she received a a degree in Public Relations. When she is not on the phone with a client, in a meeting with a client, or on a plane to see a client, Monica enjoys traveling and spending time with her husband Adrian and their dog Bowie.

Brand Manager

Kim is a Brand Manager who brings a creative outlook and a wealth of PR knowledge to each campaign, to successfully deliver results that meet her clients’ largest business objectives. She thrives off of the thrill of driving growth and being a true partner, all while coaching and mentoring Startr Co.’s impressive team of Account Executives.

Kim’s 12-year PR experience includes developing and executing multi-pronged campaigns for lifestyle, franchise and family brands such as Sky Zone, The Goddard School, Nautica, KEEN Kids, Teletubbies, MGA Entertainment, Nuna, Ono Hawaiian BBQ, Levi’s®, Home Depot, Lakeshore Learning and more. She specializes in strategizing and collaborating with her clients to create thoughtful tactics to achieve improved consumer awareness and ultimately, lead her teams to facilitate high impact press coverage across all forms of media.

Kim graduated from Loyola Marymount University with a degree in Business Administration and Marketing. During her off-hours, she on a continuous hunt for delicious cuisine, new workouts and fun activities to try in this vast city. She was bit by the travel bug at an early age and has had the pleasure of visiting 19 countries thus far. She continues to satisfy her wanderlust spirit by traveling to foreign destinations on her ever-growing bucket list.

Carissa Izquierdo

Account Executive

Carissa’s public relations career began at a boutique agency where she gained extensive knowledge working with beauty and lifestyle brands. Here, she served as a representative to members of the press and generated press coverage through proactive strategic outreach in top outlets such as Shape, Los Angeles Times, Refinery 29 and Yoga Journal, to name a few.

Carissa graduated from Loyola Marymount University with a BA in Communication Studies. She held internships at a variety of PR firms sparking her interest in the fast-paced industry.

When she isn’t working, you will find Carissa hanging out with her friends, teaching a Zumba class, kicking around a soccer ball, or at a concert. Carissa is always up for something fun especially if it involves a night out dancing or pizza.

Jacqueline Reid

Account Coordinator

Jacqueline’s public relations journey began at a boutique agency in Santa Monica where she learned the ins and outs of broadcast PR and coordinated many lifestyle and beauty segments with stations such as Good Day LA, KCAL and Extra. From there, she transitioned to a boutique agency in Newport Beach where she managed social media and secured press coverage for her hospitality, tech, automotive and real estate clients in top outlets such as The Los Angeles Times, Inc., Time, Cosmopolitan and The Wall Street Journal.

Jacqueline thrives in creative environments and was drawn to the intimate nature of catering to startups. Seeing dreams come to fruition drives her.

She graduated with a degree in English from UCLA. In her free time can be found relaxing at her beach house, blogging about her travels and boating with her family.
